Hey, CityGirl! You Aren’t In Denver Anymore! THINK!

One would think I would know better by now… But there are consequences when Citygirl just hikes out into a pecan orchard with babe in tow.  My amazing new friend Angie Davis, of Angie Davis Photography took me to this amazing location for some girlfriend shooting.  Her son Colten (I don’t know if that’s how his name is spelled) came with us, along with 2 chairs, and a stroller.  Nan of course… no nap or a very short doze was pretty crabby and not in a photo-mood.  In fact all she wanted to do was fuss and push that dang stroller.. thru weeds… and sticks.

Anyway, me, the Citygirl just decides that we need to shoot out where the sun was laying on these beautiful red, orange and yellow leaves, against these perfectly planted historic pecan trees.  It was seriously breathtaking.  I could already envision my sweet Nan, propped on a chair in her sweet orchard like clothes with this amazingness around her.  I could SEE the image in my head what I wanted… and thus she was crabby.  Really… really… c.r.a.b.b.y.

“No, Mom!”

“Please, Nannie, just one little smile?”

“No, Mom.  No Pictures!”

And each became a little more stern and angry until we were in a full meltdown.  An accidental stick poke in the thigh and fighting vines didn’t help, worse… very.independent.two.year.old…   I didn’t even ask her that many times.  After about what seemed an hour but probably more like 20 minutes we decided to pack up.

SO… what happens when Citygirl just frolics out into a lovely field of red, orange and yellow?

1.)  She picks up so many hitchhikers, she begins to feel a little dirrty.  She also was silly and didn’t take her $200 woven wool coat off, which was equally as covered in these things.

This was only one SIDE after a very gentle washing.  Oh and after 1 hour of picking.

2.) Babe gets stuck with a stick, makes for a small scratch, but a very, very irritated Nan.

3.) From walking thru those beautiful red and orange leaves, she doesn’t have THAT long of legs so she’s walking thru these hitchhikers and other weeds.  Well you know when you run thru a field or walk then you shower later in the evening and it’s like your being scratched by a cat!?  I am pretty sure that when she started sweating in her sleep that night – that is what she felt like. :(  Broke my heart when I brought her out of her room.  But alas, diaper cream by Aveeno stopped the itch, but didn’t heal Mommy’s saddness for her babe.

Between her scratching and the weeds this is what we ended up with at 11pm.  This makes me SO SAD. :(  But then bright and early Aunt Angie;)brought over some amazing gel and saved the day!  And Nan was happy.  And Mommy was happy that Nan was happy and we could all have a happy day!  Was it all worth it… no, of course not.  I hate seeing my baby girl like that, and clearly I wasn’t thinking about what she was walking thru.  I’m still on Denver thinking.  Chalk that story up to “CityGirl shoulda known better” & “Mom of the Year.”  (Thank God the years almost over)  Natalie is all better.  The scratches went away the next morning.

And now I know… Don’t shoot deep within a pecan orchard… stay on the outside where there’s grass.

w.o.w. – Arkansas Family Photography

I’m completely unsure how I managed to get the following images… but SOOC (straight out of camera) they were incredible.  I don’t know if it was just the right light and locations, or what but I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary that I normally do not do?!  Maybe I’m just THAT awesome.  teehee!

Anyway… Let me introduce you to this amazing bunch of awesome.  This family of five actually live in Egypt!  Mom and Dad work there!  The kids are learning Arabic and in an international school.  I think this is SO awesome, what a wonderful experience that they are giving to their kids that many would never have.

These guys really know how to have fun!  They enjoy every minute together, laughing, holding hands and their faith is a big part of their lives.  I can honestly say that each of them REALLY enjoyed themselves, and I am thankful to have captured these, probably some of the best family images I have ever taken.

I LOVE these pictures! You’ve captured what it’s really like to have three small kids and trying to get them to cooperate for something that (might) require being still!

I love how you’re really made their eyes sparkle in the color pictures. If you were hurting for light, you certainly overcame that obstacle.

Courtney Hallaway - November 17, 2010 - 10:24 pm

i love these! they’re so precious!

Jennifer - November 17, 2010 - 9:22 pm

They are absolutely lovely. You are amazing and it is hard to believe you kept up that energy after such a crazy day! That must be why you are so wonderful with families and kids, and can create such fantastic images! And, I also CANNOT believe it came together after we also had such a crazy day.

And the light! That is definitely my fault for scheduling in the evening the day after the daylight savings time change – I hate the time change and could go on and on, but John is getting tired of my rants about it every year (after 18 years), so I must refrain. For now. :)

Thanks again for doing such a fabulous job!

Keeping Up With The Jones’ – Arkansas Family Photography

Can you believe this cutie?!  He’s amazing!!

This post actually has some interesting significant history.  Remember Emilie and her OpLove Session?  Well Emilie and Cris have this great blog documenting their journey of parenthood, adoption, life, and military.  It’s pretty amazing.  When I moved to Arkansas, I had clients waiting for me and I didn’t even know it!  Jennifer had been following Emilie’s blog for several years.  She’d seen my images of their pre-deployment session and had mentioned to her husband Bryan that I was moving to Arkansas!  Well, fate brought us together, because here are the Jones’ on my blog!

Our session was pretty awesome.  We went to the North Puloski County location to run and play in the leaves.  Mr. C’s Tonka has some tender locations in my heart as my kids – all three – were and are really attached to their Tonkas. I also learned a few things that I didn’t know about Arkansas…. Like the important types of snakes to watch out for.  My Denver homies know that I have a difficult time with snakes, spiders, and cockaroaches.  I’m just not THAT girl.  I also learned that Little Rock has somewhere around 5 snowplows.  Yes, Denver, you read that right. Five.:)  Conway and Vilonia don’t have any, and we do get some snow here… too early for me to snicker at it.  But it’s a big deal, really, I’m not “maying a mockery” of – as one blog poster wrote me a while ago.  Stores shut down, schools send kids home if there’s a warning.  Hunter and Jayden are sure to love this!  Real snow days!  Hooray!!  As Winter and Jack Frost set in, I hope that my December sessions (Engagements!!) can venture out into some winter white flakes, but in the meantime, I’m really loving the beautiful Fall colors on the ground and in the air.

For anyone in the neighborhood, we have a massive snowblower.  I’ll take rainchecks thru the month for plowing haha!

Kara’s Tate – Little Rock Family Photographer

Oh Tate… How you made me run for your amazing pictures.  But I love you for it, because I love them… and so do your parents!  So we’ll let it slide this time!!  Little Buddy, you are so handsome!  I hope your mama has a looong stick to start fighting off those girls!

I always set out with one goal.  I want my families to remember how much fun they had this day.  Running, laughing, being silly, being together.  I know that if my dad’s get into it, and they have these genuine smiles of love for their children and wives… the images will be fantastic.  It’s important for me to know that everyone at the session had a good time, because then it shows thru my work – and on the walls of many.  Here are a few images from our session in North Puloski County.  Have I mentioned I LOVE FALL!?

Meet Shannon… and Shannon’s family!  We had our session in Jacksonville.  It was a lovely fall day.  The geese minded their business, the water was fairly clear, and the air warm.  I love Autumn.  Something about this season really brings families together.  Maybe it’s the giving season, the cooking, friends visiting, who knows – but it’s in the air, and I looove it!

Our time in Arkansas has been a very pleasureable experience so far.  I have got some AMAZING clients here.  I really hope they are having as much fun as well.

Conway Family Photographer – Heather’s Clan

Whew!  I have been SO busy.  This Holiday rush kills me every year and I can never seem to get used to the busy season.  I’m glad it’s there, it’s just looong nights and days of the TV babysitting Natalie until Little Bear, Sesame Street, Gabba, and Olivia have lost all their appeal…. to both of us.  Nap time is bliss!

All these upcoming sessions have seen their images already, I’m a tad bit behind on “Sneak Peeks” LOL.  But they are still fun for families and friends to see, and it gives some character to my Facebook Page.

I really enjoyed Heather and her family.  They love Facebook too, so they have to be an immediate friend:).  We had our session at the Vilonia location and we had some good giggles and family bonding.  Truly, that’s what I strive for, I just want my families to relax and escape from the every day juggle to really enjoy their kids!  It’s so important to let them know how much fun they are, and how much they are loved.

North Little Rock Family – Arkansas Photographer

We had a lovely session the other day with this sweet family.  Mom & Dad did a good job making these beautiful kids!  They are adorable, with the most amazing eyes!  We went to the North Little Rock location I’ve been working with, and I hope to find some more, but at Magic Hour, it’s … magical!  Hope you enjoy your peek, Family:)

Little Rock Wedding Photographer

You don’t see this often anymore… Love.  I mean, you see it… the way a mother looks at her child, that hug a father gives his daughter at the end of the isle… you see it, but it’s rare any more between couples. REAL LOVE STRONG TRUE LOVE.  Yes people love eachother, I’m not saying that.  Bridget and her fiance’ (who’s awesome) have such a spark for each other.  It was truly breathtaking, heartwarming, and calming.  It’s so wonderful when you just know a couple will ‘make it’ just by their interaction with eachother.  I wish I’d have met them earlier in their engagement, their wedding photographer in Chicago should have some fantastic portfolio images!

Fantastic Four – Searcy Family Photos

Oh Shona!  Your kids were a dream!  We had a rough start with Boyd, but I think you will be head over heels for these pictures of your wee ones.  We had some great interactions with the kids and some teeny tiny frogs, and just enjoying each other as brothers and sisters!!

Just the Kids – Arkansas Family Photographer

Only 2 for this preview.  This session outcome is actually a gift, and I’m not sure if she’ll be reading the blog or not.:)That said here’s a few images that won’t give the session away for that special realative in this families lives:)  Such a great group!  I hope you love your small, yet awesome, sneak peak.

Conway Senior Photographer – Dillon

Dillon had some pictures taken for his mom!  I hear he’s quite the skateboarder, but we decided to get some natural photos in a natural area.  Can you believe we were in his back yard!  I am loving Arkansas!

Beautiful portraits! I love the color and mood of your pictures! Keep it on!

Sweet Babe – Conway Family & Baby Photographer

A week or so ago I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting this little man and his family.  He had the most vivid blue eyes I have seen on a babe in a while!  Such a cutie, with a strong personality.  Once we got him inside however, he eased up a little and gave me some good grins.  I love using this fence with little ones. It reminds us how little they really are!

I hope you love your Sneak Peak Whitney!  Happy Week!

Thanks so much for the session and the sneak peek. The pictures are gorgeous and exactly what I was looking for! I can’t wait to see them in print!

Maternity – Arkansas Maternity Photography

This mama to be is actually Hunter’s best friends sister!  We’ve known the family for a few years, and couldn’t be happier for thier upcoming addition!  Shortly after I left Denver for Arkansas, Terese delivered a beautiful healthy little boy.
